Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 19, 1908: “A local horse and buggy were stolen here last night and there so far are no traces of the vehicle. The animal was found, however, ‘driven half to death.’ : Two cases of diphtheria were quarantined here Sunday. One is a little girl, the other a student rooming at a local home. Those who have been exposed are being treated with anti-toxin. : The Lawrence Manual High School bonds have been aided in the legislature and are to go to the governor where approval seems certain. The action allows a 5 percent rate for their sale and this is a help.”
