Man out of hospital after 500-foot fall

? Alcides Moreno, the window washer who survived a 47-story fall from a Manhattan high-rise apartment building last month, was quietly released from the hospital Friday.

The 37-year-old Ecuadorian immigrant and father of three was transferred in stable condition from New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center to an undisclosed rehabilitation center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Doctors said Moreno will undergo acute rehabilitation, which may take more than a year. Doctors believe Moreno will walk again.

Moreno and his brother, Edgar Moreno, plunged more than 500 feet when their window washing scaffold at an Upper East Side apartment building gave way.

It is believed that Alcides Moreno survived the fall by holding on to the scaffold platform. He was found conscious, sitting up on top of the platform. His brother died instantly, according to paramedics at the scene of the Dec. 7 accident.
