Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 18, 1908: “Donald Stevenson, a mining salesman who has local ties, was shot and dangerously wounded by O.B. Hewitt, an attorney, yesterday in Taylorville, Ill. Stevenson is 37 years old and unmarried and there is no evidence of the cause of the shooting. He reportedly was in Illinois on business. : Word is the current session of the Kansas Legislature will last only 15 more days as various projects of the governor and odds and ends are dealt with. : A very large dog owned by councilman George Lindley attacked Mamie Griffith, a 12-year-old North Lawrence girl last evening and wounded her painfully. The dog had made trouble before and was killed by police at the request of the owner.”
