Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 16, 1908: “A local couple were overcome by fumes from a stove in adjoining room and are fortunate to have survived, say those who treated them. They were in a boarding house fixing breakfast when people in other rooms heard them groaning and helped them out. : The Kansas Legislature is due to convene for an extra session today in Topeka. They say they intend to get right down to business and adjourn as soon as possible. Taxes and an election primary are high on the agenda of things to get done at the request of Gov. Hoch.”
