Israel ? Israel has offered Jewish doctors from the U.K., U.S. and Canada who immigrate to the country a package of incentives worth $60,000, the Haaretz newspaper reported on Tuesday.

“Physicians under 40 who have completed their medical studies in either North America or Britain will receive $25,000 upon arrival in Israel. Over the next few years, they will be paid between $1,000 and $1,500 a month,” the newspaper said.

In return, doctors will have to practice at least nine months a year in Israel.

The move is designed to address a shortage of medical staff projected in Israel in coming years. The country’s current rate of 3.4 doctors per 1,000 inhabitants is estimated to fall to less than 2.5 doctors per 1,000 by 2025.
