Chicago’s costs detailed

? Building 16 of the 27 venues that would play host to the 2016 Olympic Games on the city’s downtown lakefront and in nearby neighborhoods will cost an estimated $900 million.

Organizers released the estimate Tuesday, which includes five new and 11 temporary structures, as part of answers to a detailed questionnaire submitted to the International Olympic Committee. It does not include a $1 billion athletes’ village, which will be a public-private venture officials said will be built regardless of whether Chicago gets the games.
