Old Home Town – 25 years ago

The year-old Penn House headquarters at 1035 Pa. was proving a successful operation, with more than 8,000 client visits the past year. The house had been put up, from scratch, over a weekend by a group of local volunteers.

The Kansas Supreme Court ruled that a trial should be held in the case of a Lawrence man who filed suit against the city after its employees cut small trees and mowed weeds on his property in 1979. Ronald Lantz, 326 Ind., filed the lawsuit.
