Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 14, 1908: “More than 150 are reported to have perished in a fire following a gas explosion at the Rhoads Opera House last night in Boyerstown, Pa. Many were trampled in the panic and a number of them appear to have been children. : Tests for local teacher certificates are planned for Jan. 24 and 26. The examinations are held three times each year. : The groundswell continues for W.R. Stubbs to run for governor on the Republican ticket and he has a number of top people supporting him. : Records of former students at the university have been moved from Fraser Hall to the fireproof vault in Spooner Library.”
