Sloan appointed panel’s vice chairman

? State Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence, has been appointed vice chairman of the House Government Efficiency and Technology Committee.

“Rep. Sloan is a strong supporter of using the latest technology to better the lives of Kansans,” said House Speaker Neufeld, R-Ingalls. “His leadership in this area will serve the committee and the state well,” he said.

Sloan will replace Rep. Stephanie Sharp, R-Lenexa, who is resigning from the Legislature.

“Government efficiency, cost-effectively providing health care and other services, and openness of government processes to the public will increasingly be dependent on the wise use of Internet technological capabilities,” Sloan said. “Providing leadership in those areas is my objective.”

First elected to the Kansas House in 1995, Sloan represents the 45th House District, which includes part of Lawrence, and several townships in Douglas County.
