From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 5, 1908: Police got liquor and opium at Babe Seymour’s “hop” joint in a Sunday night raid. They confiscated a complete outfit for smoking opium and this is an arrest that has been shaping up for some time. Many here are greatly concerned about the opium situation. . . . Railroads seem to be doing a better job of obeying the law after various government actions forcing them in that direction.
