The India Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of Theo Dixon.

Darlene Bright will give the lesson “What Do You Pack When You Pursue a Dream, and What Do You Leave Behind?”

The Lone Star 4-H Club conducted its monthly meeting Nov. 11 at Lone Star Church of the Brethren. Members attended the annual Club Achievement dinner before the meeting.

Christine Caffey, president, called the meeting to order. Song Leaders Rowan Plinsky, Bethany Ledom and Megan Williams led the group in a song. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite Thanksgiving side dish.

Community Leader Mary Berg reminded the club that 4-H enrollment cards were due to the extension office by Dec. 1. A reminder also was given about the annual Bromelsick Christmas Party, which was Dec. 2.

In old business, an update on the Adopt-A-Family project was given by Haley Parker, who is leading the committee for the event.

The club will have two members attending KYLF. Members approved the reimbursement of fees for members attending KYLF.

Under new business, the club’s 2007-2008 budget was approved, and four members volunteered to work at the Bromelsick party. Members approved a dollar limit for the gift exchange at the December meeting.

Members recited the club pledge and motto, and the meeting was adjourned.

The Family and Community Education Council met Nov. 13 in Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Margaret Fuston, council president, reported that she attended meetings of the Lawrence City Commission and Douglas County Commission for signings of proclamations recognizing Family and Community Education Week, which was Oct. 7-13.

Susan Krumm, family and consumer science agent, reported that the new PATH classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 10 to March 13 and will cost $20. For more information about the classes, call 843-7058.

Upcoming council meetings are set for Jan. 7, March 3, April 7, June 2, Sept. 8 and Nov. 10. All meetings are at 9:30 a.m.

The Kanwaka Family and Community Education unit will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Beverly Bourque. Lyn Walther will give the lesson on “Electronic Manners Count, Too!”
