Learning styles differ for girls, boys

Because of how their brains develop, boys and girls learn differently. Here are five examples.

¢ Boys generally don’t hear as well, so teachers must speak up to keep their attention.

¢ Girls tend to get better grades. But because they are more critical of themselves, they also need more encouragement.

¢ Boys often must be personally interested in a subject to do well. Girls often work hard to please their parents and teachers.

¢ Boys tend to learn math by focusing on the numbers. Girls do better when relating numbers to real-life situations, such as in “story problems.”

¢ Girls often learn by acting out a story they have read. Boys tend to focus on the facts of what they have read, not how they feel about it.
