Eudora, Tongie advance to second round
Eudora 55, KC Ward 38
Eudora – Emily Ballock scored 17 points to lead Eudora to a first-round high school girls basketball sub-state victory Monday over Kansas City Ward.
Eudora (18-3) will travel to Spring Hill on Thursday for the second round of sub-state.
Tonganoxie 75, Atchison 28
Tonganoxie – Elizabeth Baska led the Chieftains with 23 points, and Shannon Carlin scored 15 points and added a team-high eight rebounds as Tonganoxie cruised to a round-one victory.
Christy Weller also scored 15. Six of those came on three layups that opened the second half.
Tonganoxie will play Royal Valley, a 52-39 winner over Hiawatha, on Thursday at Holton.
Spring Hill 40, Baldwin 39
Spring Hill – Megan Adams led third-seeded Spring Hill with 12 points in its sub-state victory against No. 6 Baldwin.
Colby Heckathorne led all scorers with 13 for Baldwin in the losing cause. Ashley Turner added 12 for the Bulldogs.
