Old tomes offer tips for wives, husbands

Men, please refrain from slouching, stooping and fidgeting. And please: “Don’t keep all your best jokes for your men friends.” And ladies, “Don’t expect life to be all sunshine,” “Don’t omit the kiss of greeting” and please, “Don’t argue with a stubborn husband.” (That way lies madness!) These are words of advice from Blanche Ebbutt in two little books, “Don’ts For Wives” and “Don’ts For Husbands” originally published in 1913. The reprints ($4.95) by A & C Black Publishers of London will be out in April through Amazon.com and other retailers.
