State Sen. Wint Winter, R-Lawrence, had been put in charge of one of the most controversial topics now before the Kansas Legislature: bingo. Winter was named chairman of a subcommittee charged with drafting reforms in the state bingo laws. Winter said he had no axes to grind since he hadn’t played the game since the third grade, but he added he planned to study the issue carefully.
