Club news

Over the Rainbow Doll Club met Feb. 14 at the home of Wilma Baruth. Members brought their club dolls dressed for Valentine’s Day. The dolls were dressed in costumes that required no sewing.

Members will participate March 8 in a field trip to the Toy and Miniature Museum of Kansas City.

The next meeting will be at the home of Barbara Walden with a lesson on Kewpie dolls.

¢University Club Bridge announces results of its Feb. 16 meeting. Hosts were Alice Akin and Florence McNicoll. Blue winners were Lois Liebert, first; Walt Hicks, second; Ray Ikenberry, third; Marrillie Good, fourth; and Karmie Galle, fifth. Pink winners were Cathy Waller, first; Myrna Ikenberry, second; Virginia Williams, third; Wanda Kring, fourth; and Mary Gaumer, fifth.

¢The Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club’s Feb. 13 game was directed by Chris Lane.

The North-South players were led by Ed Howard and Mark Osborn, with Wanda Durbin and Suzanne Wassmer in second. John Fittell and Adelaide Nyquist placed third in A and first in B and C, followed by Arkie Vaughn and Jack Flickinger at second in B and C.

The East-West players were led by Paul Heitzman and David Piro, with Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier placing second in A and first in B. Virginia Seaver and Shirley Reese were third in A, while Eldon Herd and Lois Clark placed second in B. Mona Bell and Carol Ball led in C, with Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld placing second in C.

¢The Friday Afternoon Bridge Club’s Feb. 15 game was directed by Virginia Seaver. The North-South players were led by Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough, followed by Chris Lane and Shirley Reese at second in A and first in B. Mary Fenlon and Lester Dalton were third in A with Mona Bell and Madelyn Jenks at second in B and first in C.

The East-West players were led by Paul Heitzman and David Piro, with Ed Howard and John Fittell placing second. Shari Krentzel and Debbi Bettinger were third in A and first in B and C. Grant Sutton and Mark Osborn were second in B with Ann Thompson and Catherine Blumenfeld placing second in C.

¢The Sunday Afternoon Bridge Club’s Feb. 17 game was directed by Chris Lane. Grant Sutton and Virginia Seaver placed first, with Lisa Miller and Mandy Liebold placing second. Virginia Hamilton and Adelaide Hanna were third, with Chris Lane and Ann Thompson placing fourth. Jean Khalib and Marilyn Martin were fifth.

¢The Monday Evening Bridge Club’s Feb. 18 game was directed by Virginia Seaver. The North-South players were led by Donna Johnson and James Masilamani, with Janice Hollowell and Mary Fenlon placing second. Julia Dalton and Lester Dalton were third in A and first in B, with Clyde Romer and Vince Nordberg at second in B.

The East-West players were led by Jeffrey Nash and Jim Stewart at first in A and B, with Ed Howard and Craig Huneke placing second. Jean Landry and Lynn Hui were third in A, with Barbara Merriam and Dorothy Netson placing first in C.

¢The Pilot Club of Lawrence had its February meeting at Bambino’s. The club elected officers for the 2008-2009 year. New officers are Jody Woodward, president; Inez Crawford, president-elect; Lisa Smith, secretary; and Marsha Fowler, treasurer.
