Old Home Town – 100 years ago
From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 22, 1908: The demand for tickets for the William Jennings Bryan meeting at the university gymnasium Sunday has been so great that the available supply has been exhausted and a very large number who are hoping to go will be unable to gain admission. Robinson Gymnasium holds only about 3,000 and more tickets than that already have been claimed. The Kansas Democratic convention is strongly behind Bryan as a presidential candidate and he is noted as a dynamic speaker. He is paid nothing but a collection will be made to aid the Democratic efforts in the state.
