Report: Virtual schools multiply in 10 years

A Senate committee was told that virtual schools have grown in Kansas in the past decade.

A report by the Legislative Post Audit Division finds that in 1998, the state had one such school with 63 students. Now Kansas has 2,000 students in 28 virtual schools operated by 26 school district and service centers.

Virtual schools are operated by districts over the Internet, offering courses and interaction between teachers and students.
