Plastic cup Jayhawk sculptures on exhibit

Sculptor and Kansas University student Daniel Scannell is currently displaying his unique Jayhawk sculptures throughout the KU Bookstores and Oread Books, located on level two of the Kansas Union.

Daniel’s work revolves around the creative use of material(s) by recreating ideas, objects and feelings by using a module. A module is a single element that is often a repeated part of a work of art. The module can be broken down, built up or sculpted to create an art piece. In the case of Daniel’s Jayhawks, the module is a plastic cup.

In addition to the Jayhawks, Daniel has designed an 8-foot-tall metal man that is permanently placed outside of Murphy Hall.
