James Induction: Noted Lawrence baseball research guru Bill James and three others will be inducted into the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday in Wichita.

Also being inducted are former major leaguers Joe Carter, Brian Holman and Phil Stephenson.

Green Honored: Ottawa University’s Matt Green, a junior from Lawrence, was named KCAC men’s basketball player of the week after averaging 16 points and four assists in three victories. Green made 19 of 21 shots, including 8-of-9 from three-point range, as the Braves moved into first place in league standings with an 11-3 record.

Salvatore Shines: Genny Salvatore of Lawrence Gymnastics Academy placed third in the Level 10 all-around at the Navy Pier meet last weekend in Chicago. Salvatore tied for first on beam and was third on the uneven bars. Salvatore also won the all-around at the Folger’s Invitational in Wichita and the KC Coed meet.
