K-State women survive Cyclones

? Kimberly Dietz scored 18 of her 20 points in the first half and No. 17 Kansas State held off Iowa State’s second-half charge for a 45-42 victory Wednesday night.

Kansas State (17-6, 9-1 Big 12) has won 12 of 13 after a 5-5 start and is in sole possession of first place in the league. But the Wildcats, who beat Iowa State by 31 at home last month, weren’t sure of the victory until ISU’s Alison Lacey missed a leaner with 6 seconds left.

Iowa State trailed by as many as 12 in the first half, then started the second half with a 13-4 run to tie the score at 30.

Texas 61, No. 8 Baylor 51

Austin, Texas – Brittainey Raven scored 18 points, and Texas stunned Baylor, giving coach Gail Goestenkors her biggest victory in her first season with the Longhorns.

Texas (16-8, 4-6) snapped a three-game losing streak, each of the losses coming against ranked league opponents. One of those was a 61-60 loss at Baylor on Jan. 30.
