Boy Scouts from Troop 64, chartered to the Eudora Lions Club, held an overnight planning session Jan. 18-19 at the Eudora Assembly of God Church. After completing plans for the next three months, Scouts enjoyed games, movies and pizza. Scouts attending were Joseph Walker, Jonathan Morrison, Alex Whitten, Nathan Gentleman, Devon Middleton, Connor Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Andrew Briery and David Lewis. Adults attending were Scoutmaster Glenn Jackson, Jerry Criqui, Duane Gentleman, Jim Morrison and John Scott.

Troop 64 meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Eudora Community Learning Center, 10th and Main.

¢Evan Wilson, 18, Baldwin City, will receive the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 65 at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church at Eighth and Grove in Baldwin City.

Wilson joined Cub Scout Pack 3065 in 1999 as a Webelos Scout. He attended Webelos Summer Camp at the Camp Naish Scout Reservation twice. He received the highest honor in Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Light Award, in May 2001.

His leadership positions include junior assistant scoutmaster, assistant senior patrol leader, Order of the Arrow representative, patrol leader and assistant patrol leader

Wilson joined Boy Scout Troop 65 in May 2001. He earned 25 merit badges and has completed Junior Leadership Training, Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat through the scouting program.

During his time as a Scout, Wilson spent 136 nights camping, earning the 12 month-camper award two years in a row. In 2004, he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, a scouting national honors camping society, and became a brotherhood member of OA in 2005.

He completed more than 117 service hours, bicycled 76 miles and hiked 163 miles. In the summer of 2005, he completed a 70-mile backpacking trip at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He also earned the Philmont Duty to God award. In January 2007, he attended the Kanik program at Philmont and camped in three feet of snow.

For his Eagle project, Wilson built a wooden chimney swift tower on the grounds of Baldwin Elementary School Intermediate Center.

Wilson will graduate from Baldwin High School in May. He plans to attend Johnson County Community College. He is registered as an assistant scoutmaster with Troop 65. He is the son of Tom and Virginia Wilson.

¢Kevin Christopher Workman, 18, will be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 59, at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence.

Workman began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub in 1995. He joined Pack 3059 the following year and progressed through the ranks of Bobcat, Wolf, Bear and Webelo and earned the Arrow of Light.

He joined Troop 59 in 2000. He has earned 25 merit badges, the mile swim and snorkeling patch and completed the requirements for BSA Life guard.

He participated in several high adventure trips: Canadian National Jamboree in 2001, Key West Scuba Diving, Florida Sea Base, Northern Tier National Canoe Base and Philmont Scout Ranch.

He has attended camp at the Bartle Scout Reservation and canoed with the troop at their annual outing on the Niangua River.

He is a runner in the Tribe of the Mic-O-Say and an ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow.

For his Eagle project, Workman constructed four large tire swings at Raintree Montessori School.

In addition to scouting, Workman has also participated in choir, marching band, Model U.N., and was co-captain of the Lawrence High School swim team. He is a freshman at Kansas University and the son of Mark and Joan Workman, Lawrence.

¢Cub Scout Pack 3462, chartered to Langston Hughes PTO, held its annual Pinewood Derby at Langston Hughes School on Jan. 19.

Medals were awarded to the top 3 winners in each den: Tigers: Miles Kingsley, first, Luke Jacobs, second, and Camden Ruckman, third; Wolves: Calvin DeWitt, first, Carson Juhl, second, and Michael Gard, third; Bears: Justin Siler, first, Sam Hambleton, second, and Finn Nesbitt-Daly, third; Webelos I: Conner Rainey, first, Carter Ruckman, second, and Christopher Toalson, third; Webelos II: Trevor Hughes, first, Matt Pribbenow, second, and Matthew Siler, third.

The consolation winners were Tristan Delnevo, first; Ethan Perrins, second; Michael Braman, third; and Jarrod Saathoff, fourth.

Overall trophy winners of the Pack championship were Joseph Cary, first; Conner Rainey, second; Trevor Hughes, third; Christopher Toalson, fourth; Carter Ruckman, fifth; and Matt Pribbenow, sixth.

Winners of the family open class were Glenn Pribbenow, first; Spencer Hughes, second; and Matt Pribbenow, third.

The following Scouts won special awards: Carter Ruckman, Best in Show; Steele Jacob, Best Scout Theme; Tommy Warden, Best Scout’s Effort; and Matthew Siler, Scout’s Choice.
