What he did: During last weekend's Sunflower League swimming and diving meet in Olathe, the Free State freshman roared his way to a city-best second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.22 seconds.

Lawrence High, Jr.
Basketball
What she did: In helping the Lions snap their two-game losing skid Monday with a 54-40 victory at Shawnee Mission South, Bird was more assertive than normal and scored 13 points to go along with four assists.
