Winners of this year’s Langston Hughes Literary Awards will be honored during a ceremony tonight at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. This year’s recipients – Steve Bunch (poetry) and John Mark Connolly (prose) – will each receive a $500 in the contest, which is sponsored by the Arts Center and The Raven Bookstore. Following the 7 p.m. ceremony, those in attendance can eat birthday cake in honor of Hughes, the poet who grew up in Lawrence and would have been 106 years old today.
