Iowa rolls to 73-57 win

? Jeff Peterson led four Iowa players in double figures with 17 points, and the Hawkeyes pounded rival Iowa State, 73-57, Friday night.

Jermain Davis added 16 points for the Hawkeyes (9-2), who opened the second half on a 25-4 run to blow open what had been a tight game.

Iowa, which led by two at the break, got a pair a threes from Peterson that helped put them ahead 48-34 with 14:55 left. Matt Gatens pushed Iowa’s lead to 16 by cutting through the lane for a layup and hitting a pair of free throws, and Peterson followed Devan Bawinkel’s three with a layup to make it 59-36 with 10:45 to go.

Diante Garrett had 16 points to lead Iowa State (6-3), which lost its second straight to an instate school. The Cyclones blew a late lead and lost at home to Drake, 66-63, on Tuesday.
