There was a local effort to get the old Wren Building property in the 700 block of Vermont for conversion as a new restaurant. The building, once the site of the local YMCA, had been destroyed by fire but renovators said it had good potential for restoration. At one time the chamber of commerce offices had been located in “The Wren,” so named because of the birds that once marked the site when it was involved in radio broadcasting.
