From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 10, 1908: “Prof. Erasmus Haworth of the university was elected president of the American Association of Mining Schools in Pittsburgh, Pa. It is considered a major office and represents quite an honor. … The Salvation Army has started a campaign for funds and provisions for their annual Christmas dinner for the poor of the community. More than 225 are expected to attend the annual dinner.”
