New York — A.J. Abrams had 26 points and Damion James added 16 to lead Texas to a victory over Villanova in the Jimmy V Classic on Tuesday night.

Abrams, who had 18 points in the second half, and James, the Longhorns’ two leading scorers, combined to score 16 straight points for Texas (7-1) when it pulled away to a double-digit lead late in the second half.

Dante Cunningham led the Wildcats (8-1) with 23 points.

Drake 66, Iowa State 63

Ames, Iowa — Josh Young scored 19 points and Craig Stanley hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 3:04 left.

Jonathan Cox added 14 points and 14 rebounds and Adam Templeton scored 13 for the Bulldogs (7-2), who beat Iowa State for the third straight time.

No. 25 Kansas State 64, Creighton 55

Manhattan, Kan. — Ashley Sweat scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half to lead the Wildcats, who trailed by as many as 11 early in the game.

No. 14 Purdue 68, Ball St. 39

Muncie, Ind. — Robbie Hummel had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Purdue, after sitting out Saturday’s victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff due to back spasms.

No. 23 Davidson 68, West Virginia 65

New York — Stephen Curry scored 13 of Davidson’s final 15 points.

Curry made his final three shots from behind the arc. The last of those threes gave the Wildcats (7-1) the lead for good at 64-62 with 39 seconds to play.

He finished with 27 points, 4.3 below his average, on 9-of-27 shooting. Curry entered the game shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from behind the arc.
