Warm Hearts seeks donations to help with home heating bills

A campaign is under way to raise funds to help low-income households struggling to pay home-heating costs.

Black Hills Energy has agreed to match dollar-for-dollar donations for the campaign to Warm Hearts of Douglas County. The campaign will continue into March.

Last winter Warm Hearts helped 1,163 people in 456 households pay their heating bills. The total individual income was more than 50 percent below poverty guidelines. The average assistance per household was $216, and all payments were made either to the utility company or vendor providing heating to the households.

To donate, write a check payable to Black Hills Cares and mail it to Warm Hearts of Douglas County Inc.; Box 1555; Lawrence; 66044.
