Old Home Town – 40 years ago

The record-breaking pace set by Lawrence builders in 1968 was expected to top $20 million, far outstripping the previous mark of $12.4 million for the full year of 1967.

The Rev. Harold G. Barr and educator Henry Shenk were named the Kiwanis Substantial Citizen Award winners for 1968. Both had long made major contributions to the community and the state.
