Texas outlasts Royals, 2-1

Texas' Joaquin Arias is congratulated by teammates after scoring on a Milton Bradley sacrifice fly. Texas defeated Kansas City, 2-1, on Tuesday at Kauffman Stadium.

? Kevin Millwood didn’t get much help from the Texas Rangers’ offense. Kansas City’s defense gave Millwood the run support he needed.

Millwood pitched his second straight complete game and the Rangers scored two unearned runs in a 2-1 win Tuesday night.

Throwing errors by Miguel Olivo and Mike Aviles led to the Rangers’ runs. The Rangers went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position, stranded 10 runners and grounded into a double play.

“We had a lot of chances that we didn’t do anything with,” Rangers shortstop Michael Young said. “We had a chance to really give Milly a cushion and didn’t take advantage of it. Fortunately, he’s one of the most mentally tough guys I’ve ever played with, so he doesn’t let that kind of stuff faze him.”
