Pittsburgh – Geovany Soto drove in seven runs and Chicago overcame Alfonso Soriano’s second dropped fly ball in Pittsburgh this season.
The Cubs trailed, 8-7, before scoring seven times in the eighth against three Pirates pitchers.

Washington – Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman started four double plays.

Atlanta – Yunel Escobar’s single capped Atlanta’s four-run ninth against Florida closer Kevin Gregg.
Brewers 12, Cardinals 0
St. Louis – Ben Sheets worked six scoreless innings and Ryan Braun was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer for Milwaukee.
Prince Fielder had three hits and two RBIs for the Brewers.

Houston – Bronson Arroyo pitched Cincinnati’s first complete game of the season and Ryan Hanigan hit a solo homer.
Padres 9, Diamondbacks 2
San Diego – Brian Giles and Kevin Kouzmanoff both drove in three runs as the San Diego Padres denied Brandon Webb his 20th victory.
Phillies 8, Mets 7 (13)
Philadelphia – Chris Coste’s RBI single in the bottom of the 13th capped Philadelphia’s comeback from a 7-0 deficit and allowed the Phillies to retake the lead in the NL East.
Fernando Tatis hit a three-run homer and the Mets staked Pedro Martinez to the seven-run lead. But the Phillies chipped away against Martinez and rallied against a New York bullpen that has blown 10 leads in the ninth inning, according to Stats LLC.
Rockies 7, Giants 2
San Francisco – Chris Iannetta and Garrett Atkins drove in two runs apiece, Jorge De La Rosa pitched six strong innings for Colorado.
Colorado, which made an impressive late-season charge to win the NL West last season, pulled within six games of first-place Arizona and is only three games behind Los Angeles for second place. It’s the closest the Rockies have been to the Diamondbacks since July 28.
