The school year caught in a flash

One yearbook picture defines one entire grade level

It’s all about the smile and what you’re wearing.

Kids at West Junior High School in west Lawrence took yearbook photos Monday and Tuesday that will last a lifetime.

Some have learned from past mistakes. Seventh grader Sarah McKinney said she had two bad years in a row.

“Fourth and fifth grade,” she said. “I had bad hair and a bad smile.”

A few planned ahead. “I knew I was wearing this shirt,” said 7th grader Grace Miller. She also asked her mother for advice on how she should smile.

Other students forgot. Lucas Werner wasn’t happy with what he was wearing. “This isn’t what my mom would have picked,” he said. He also predicted she would make him do it all over again when retakes come around.

But with one click, these students will have a memory that lasts a lifetime.
