Debbie Sparkes, a Douglas County budget analyst, has helped the county earn an award from the Government Finance Officers Association.

The county recently received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for how last year’s budget document was prepared. Sparkes included graphics and other comparisons to make the budget easier to understand while decisions were being made.

“Everything that’s good and accurate and understandable that’s in the budget is due primarily to the work of one person,” Douglas County Administrator Craig Weinaug said.
