Pakistan ? Police say a suicide bomber used a car laden with explosives to attack a police station in northwestern Pakistan, killing at least six officers.

Local police official Mohib Ullahn says several policemen also were wounded in today’s attack in Swat, where militants have been fighting troops to pressure the Pakistan government for the enforcement of Taliban-style Islamic laws.

A Taliban spokesman, Muslim Khan, immediately claimed responsibility and vowed more attacks if the government did not halt army operations in the area, which used to be a popular tourist destination.

The attack came less than two days after the militant group carried out one of its deadliest ever in Pakistan – twin suicide bombings that killed 67 people at the country’s biggest weapons manufacturing complex.
