Molly Flavin, Lawrence, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing on May 17 from Baylor University, Waco, Texas. She is employed in the Trauma/Neuro ICU Department at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

She is a graduate of Free State High School and the daughter of Patrick and Nancy Flavin.

¢ Juliann Chau and Cameron Hershiser, Lawrence, were named to the president’s list special honor roll at Dodge City Community College for the spring 2008 semester. Special students have completed 64 hours or more and are not classified as freshmen or sophomores and have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.80 or above.

¢ Hayley Griffith, Miramar Beach, Fla., earned a Bachelor of Science degree in fashion marketing and management from Stephens College, Columbia, Mo. The commencement ceremony was May 10.

She is the daughter of Mark and Pame Griffith, Lawrence.

¢ Brent Mowery, Lawrence, was named to the dean’s list for the 2008 spring semester at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, by earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

¢ Holly Krebs and Brett Stoppel, both of Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Evy Jillianne Krebs, born Aug. 18, 2008, at the Birth and Women’s Center, Topeka.

Her maternal grandparents are Jack and Jill Krebs, Lawrence.

Her paternal grandparents are Anna Mae and Terry Stoppel, Garden City.

Her great-grandparents are Jack Krebs, Rio Vista, Calif.; Jean Landry, Lawrence; and Pat Wells, Ocala, Fla.

¢ Michelle Colgan, Lawrence, was awarded the 2008 Mary Alice Horn Memorial Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation Scholarship. She is a member of the Delta Eta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Kansas State University, where she is a senior in the College of Agriculture majoring in food science and industry.

Colgan is also a member of the American Junior Simmental Association (AJSA). She participated in the 2008 Dusty Volz Tribute North Central Regional Simmental Classic in Spencer, Iowa, and the AJSA National Classic XXVIII in Wichita Falls, Texas, this summer.

At the North Central Regional Classic in June, Colgan placed 12th in livestock judging; eighth in cattlemen’s quiz; and seventh in public speaking. As a team member of contestants from Kansas and Minnesota, the team placed first in cattlemen’s quiz; first in public speaking, and second as overall senior team. Other team members include Abram Mertz, Manhattan; and Cliff Kaehler and Seth Kaehler, both from Minnesota.

While at the National Classic in July, Colgan placed first in public speaking; second in the interview competition; 13th in cattlemen’s quiz; fifth in sales talk; 11th in skill-a-thon; and 11th as overall individual. Members of the Kansas-Minnesota team included Colgan; Abram Mertz, Manhattan; Jake Gleason, Maple Hill; and Seth Kaehler, Minnesota. The team placed first in cattlemen’s quiz and skill-a-thon, earning the title of top senior overall team.

Colgan was elected vice president for the Board of Directors of the American Junior Simmental Association for the upcoming year.

¢ Morgan Chabin-Edens, Lawrence, graduated from level 1 of the Future Astronaut Training Program on June 7 at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, Hutchinson.

The weeklong program is for students entering grades 7-10 and emphasizes teamwork, leadership and problem solving. During the week, campers train in space simulators, practice spacewalk rescues, launch homemade rockets, direct a robotic mission and learn night sky observation techniques.

Chabin-Edens is the daughter of Elizabeth Chabin and John Edens.
