From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 19, 1908: “Last Sunday at the Christian Church, the secretary of the building committee placed on a blackboard figures showing that the entire cost of their new church will be $40,000. One of the most beautiful church edifices in the city is being constructed and aid from both members and outsiders is being solicited to pay all the bills.”
