Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Aug. 18, 1908: “If Douglas County loses the big lawsuit brought against the commissioners by William Sinclair, the county treasury will be poorer by just $6,500. In all, 39 claims were included in the one suit, ranging from $25 to several hundred dollars. Involved is the interest that tax payments have been drawing and which people say belongs to them. Various cases will be heard in September. If the county loses, the treasurer will have to refund the interest money.”
