Lawrence Girl Scout Troop 7548 took a high adventure trip July 6-9 to Colorado, where they enjoyed white-water rafting in Big Horn Sheep Canyon, horseback riding and hiking in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, climbing at Garden of the Gods and sliding on the big KOA slide.

Thirteen members participated in the trip, which the girls have been planning and saving for through the past four years. Girl Scouts attending were Katie Dilley, Kayla Duncan, Kara Farley, Kristen Gile, Lindsey Griffin, Maegen Hiersche, Kassidy Husted, Michaela Ison, Amanda Montgomery, Jillian Nutt, Julia Silverstein, Emily Wangler and Abbie Wise. Adults attending were Michele Duncan, Pam Montgomery, Deb Wangler and Jackie Wise.

¢Douglas County Service Unit of Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri along with Lawrence Girl Scout Troop 7675 will host a screening party of “Cheetah Girls One World” movie as part of a new collaboration between Girl Scouts of the USA and Disney Channel.

The event will be at 6 p.m. on Aug. 23 at South Junior High School in the gymnasium. It is open to all girls from kindergarten through sixth grade.

In addition to seeing the new movie, girls will try on Indian clothing, have photographs taken, enjoy snacks and learn traditional Indian dances. ¢Webelos from Pack 3052 attended Webelos resident camp at Camp Naish July 31- Aug. 2. The Scouts worked on activity pins, including Naturalist, Forester, Aquanaut, Readyman, Outdoorsman and Scientist. Other activities included BB guns and archery. Second-year Webelos attending were Shawn Wiley, Caleb Woodard, Geoffrey Keys and Kieran Inbody. First-year Webelos attending were Alex Hurt, Charlie Evans, Reese Stellwagon, John Eldridge, Sammy Hogsett, Connor Barker and Devin Van Schmus.
