Ohio man pleads guilty in Internet sex case involving Lawrence teen

A 43-year-old Ohio man pleaded guilty Monday to one count of using a computer and the Internet to entice a 14-year-old Lawrence girl to engage in sex.
In his plea, Kenny Collins, Alliance, Ohio, admitted that he met the girl in a Yahoo chat room for single parents, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren.
The girl reportedly sent him photos and videos of herself engaged in sexual activities. Collins urged her to purchase a Web cam and he sent her a box of sex toys along with specific requests about what he wanted to see her do.
The relationship continued until Jan. 9, 2007, when the Lawrence Police Department investigated a child welfare complaint involving the girl, who by then was 17 years old.
Investigators found obscene images of Collins in the girl's possession. On Collins' computer, they found photos and videos of the girl engaging in sexual activities.
Collins is set for sentencing Nov. 3. He faces a sentence of not less than 10 years and not more than life.
Melgren commended the Lawrence Police Department and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kim Martin for their work on the case.

What about the girl? Did she get grounded? Lose her internet privileges for a week? No prom?Wonder how old Mr. Collins thought she was when she was in the chat room for single parents?We probably don't have enough of this story to know anything but my guess is, the girl knew exactly what she was doing.

No, it's conspiracy, see? The City of Lawrence wants this guy out of business. The FBI and the DA's office are also in on the fix. Evidence has disappeared from the evidence room. Cops are on the take. They've set up surveillance in the fire station across the street from his house. This guy's written dozens of poems and set up multiple blogs with inconclusive, irrelevant documents. Nothing helped. It's a vendetta.

no physical contact? 10 years to life for mailing a box of dildos and watching her on a web cam. this seems to be steep punishment. any lawyers care to chime in on this? what does the law say about the defination of what constitutes sex (i bet bill clinton could answer this one) and would he be in as much trouble if it were phone sex?this is grey area!

No, what's wrong is there's too many chatrooms in the world. Talking in this chat is enough let alone in the more intimate places where 14 year old girls shouildn't be. The little girl sounds pretty grown up and forwardly obnoxious, I don't think she is totally innocent either. Parents need to monitor their kids better. That's a laugh this day and age!
