Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 28, 1908: “Dr. W.Y. Leonard, 74, died at his home after a lingering illness. He and his family moved here some 25 years ago and his medical practice served many well. He and his wife celebrated 50 years of marriage last November. : When it was learned the Buick automobile company was considering placing an agency in Lawrence, a number of applications were made. Thad Stevens was the lucky man and will soon have these wonderful cars in stock. The growth of the Buick factory has been marvelous and more than 7,200 of their cars are due to be built this year.”
