A 19-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a series of 14 car break-ins in the city, police said.

Ricky Allen Davis Jr. was charged Wednesday with seven counts of felony vehicle burglary and four counts of misdemeanor theft in Douglas County District Court. A district attorney spokeswoman said more charges may be filed against him.

Lawrence police said Davis burglarized cars near Clinton Parkway and Iowa Street. Tools, loose change and a carton of cigarettes are among the items prosecutors accuse Davis of stealing, according to a court document.

While responding to a report of a man looking into car windows, officers found the suspect walking with a duffel bag about 7 a.m. Tuesday along Sagebrush and Lawrence Avenue, police said. As an officer was talking to Davis, someone called 911 and reported a theft from a nearby vehicle.

"Officers found items matching the items reported stolen in the man's duffel bag," said Kim Murphree, a police spokeswoman.

Davis' next court appearance is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Oh don't worry, he can just say he conspired and concealed and sold all his stuff to the Yellow House! He will in turn get paid about $80 by the prosecutor, she will give him a great plea deal with a get out of jail free card, and nobody will have to prove a thing! What a great plan, Heck it has worked for everybody else so far! Maybe soon this will be a plan for everyone ever arrested in Lawrence!

Pywacket, anyone who thinks that his or her child is incapable of violating the law needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Is naivete your forte?

I actually knew him very very well :(. He wasn't a bad kid at all. He just had some issues he was going though. I know because Ricky A. Davis is one of my best friends. He was going through a lot of bull*** and he wanted to leave town. I wish he could of thought of a better way to gather money. I dont want what he did to make everybody not like him or be against him. I know what he did was really really really really wrong but If you knew this boy like I did. Like I still do. You would realize that he must of been going through some really really bad things to resort to stealing things out of cars. I love you ricky :) You'll always be my friend.

Pywacket, I obviously struck a nerve. I think you realize that your comments were indeed naive. One question, however: Is your parting reference to "guttersnipe" meant to refer to the person who is the subject of the article, i.e. Mr. Davis? If not, to whom do you refer?

Pywacket, you haven't answered my question. To whom were you referring when you used the term "guttersnipe" in your initial response?
