From the Lawrence Daily World for April 22, 1908: “The case of a New York man who went crazy because he was making money so fast he didn’t know what to do with it ought to be an awful warning to the wheat, corn and alfalfa barons of Kansas. : Baldwin is working to get a water plant and sewers and the city council has passed favorably on the proposition, planning to spend some $35,000 for the plant alone.”
