After striking out with a runner on second in the eighth inning, Morneau singled home Brendan Harris in the 10th, leading Minnesota past Cleveland.

Morneau is hitting a pedestrian .269 this season, but is 9-for-15 (.600) with 12 RBIs with runners in scoring position.

Toronto – David Eckstein hit a three-run homer, and A.J. Burnett won for the first time in four starts, despite issuing a season-high six walks.

Detroit designated hitter Gary Sheffield was held out of Sunday’s lineup because of soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Sheffield, who had surgery last October, would not play in today’s series finale.

Boston – Sean Casey’s bases-loaded walk made Sunday the second consecutive day Boston has put on an eighth-inning rally to beat Texas.

The Red Sox overcame a 5-0 deficit and won for the eighth time in nine games.

Baltimore – Alex Rodriguez strained his right quadriceps while running out a grounder in the sixth inning. He’s listed as day-to-day, and he will have today off.

Andy Pettitte pitched seven scoreless innings, Johnny Damon homered, and Derek Jeter had a three-run double.

Anaheim, Calif. – Miguel Batista scattered eight hits over 72â3 scoreless innings, Richie Sexson hit a two-run homer, and Seattle held off Los Angeles to avoid a three-game sweep.

Batista struck out eight and walked one while lowering his ERA from 6.35 to 4.38.
