Around and about

Christopher Erb, son of Tom and Karen Erb, Lawrence, will receive his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May. He is a 1993 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 1997 graduate of Colorado College in Colorado Springs. In June he will move with his wife, Kim, and daughter, Madeleine, to New Haven, Conn., to begin his medical residency in internal medicine/oncology at Yale University.

¢Richard Vetter, a senior at North Central College, Naperville, Ill., has been named to the Spring 2008 dean’s list. To be eligible, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.6.

He is the son of Joseph Vetter and Elaine Ayala, of Lawrence.

¢Coleman Walker and Sally Rosanne Campbell, both of Lawrence, have become members of Sigma Alpha Lambda, a national leadership and honors organization at Kansas University. The organization is dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic achievement and providing members with opportunities for community service, personal development and professional fulfillment.

Walker is a sophomore at KU and a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Campbell also is a sophomore and a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She is the daughter of Leslie and Scott Campbell, of Lawrence.

¢Jacob Ellis, son of Debbie Bolden, Lawrence, and Raymond Patterson, has received the Distinguished Automotive Senior Award from Pittsburg State University.

Ellis is a graduate of Perry-Lecompton High School.

¢Jennifer Hornbaker, Lawrence, has received a High Scholarship Award in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences from Iowa State University.

The award is given to undergraduate students and veterinary medicine professional students who rank in the top 2 percent of their college class.
