Authorities identify man killed in rollover

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has identified David Ray Gonzalez, 45, Shawnee, as the man who died Saturday afternoon in a one-vehicle rollover wreck east of De Soto.

Deputies found a man was driving east on 83rd Street near Gardner Road yelling out of his window and swerving into oncoming traffic. The man later rolled his truck near 83rd Street and Cedar Creek Road.

Gonzalez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators say they also found alcohol at the scene.

The sheriff’s office did not identify Gonzalez until his family could be notified.

Officers spotted Gonzalez after they had been called about 12:45 p.m. to a report of a man using his truck to ram De Soto Laundromat in the 32500 block of Lexington Avenue. No other injuries were reported.

Investigators still are asking witnesses to call (913) 782-0720.
