Hopfinger leads KU to 8th place in golf

? Freshman Brad Hopfinger shot a third-round 69 – his seventh under-par round of the year – to pace Kansas University’s men’s golf team to an eighth-place finish Sunday at the River Landing Intercollegiate.

KU shot an even-par score of 288 in the final round and finished with a three-round 881. Duke won with 851 strokes.

Hopfinger carded five birdies on the day and finished in a tie for 16th place at 217.

Fellow freshman Nate Barbee fired a final-round 72 to tie for 20th at 218. It also marks his fourth top-20 finish of the year.

Junior Zach Pederson tied for 45th at 223, Walt Koelbel tied for 54th at 225, and Patrick Roth took 79th at 236.
