Smoking cessation, walking programs set

Lawrence Memorial Hospital ConnectCare is hosting two free programs.

The first program is called “The Steps to Successfully Quitting Smoking.” It will last from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday in meeting room D-North at the hospital, 325 Maine. The program will include topics such as ways to break the smoking habit, pharmaceutical and nicotine replacement assistance, tips on preventing weight gain after quitting and alternative ways to manage stress.

Advance registration is requested.

The second is a walking program called “10,000 Steps a Day,” which will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in meeting room E of the hospital. The program will teach participants the basics of beginning a walking program. Pedometers will be sold for $10 to log daily steps.
