For the third time this week, the city high school baseball teams fell victim to Mother Nature.

After calling off the city showdown twice because of rain, Free State and Lawrence High had their Thursday games called, as well.

The Firebirds, who were scheduled to play host to Shawnee Mission West, have rescheduled that contest for 4 p.m. Saturday. The Lions, who were to play host to a doubleheader vs. Leavenworth, have not rescheduled the games.

Also canceled Thursday were a pair of city softball games. Free State’s doubleheader at Shawnee Mission Nortwest and Lawrence’s doubleheader with Olathe Northwest were called off.

The Lions have rescheduled the games for Monday. Free State has yet to announce a make-up date.

In addition to Thursday’s cancellations, LHS announced that its track meet scheduled for today at Manhattan has been postponed, as well.

Other canceled events from Thursday included Free State girls soccer vs. Leavenworth, Free State boys golf at Emporia and Free State boys tennis at Shawnee Mission West.
