From the Lawrence Daily World for April 11, 1908: “Earl C. Woodward of Glasco was elected captain of the university basketball team for next year. He has been a regular guard on the team this year. : The third annual gymnastics exhibition at the YMCA here was held before some 500 people, easily the largest audience ever to attend such a local event. : The spring meeting of the Lawrence Federal of Women’s Clubs was held yesterday and many are singing the praises of how much the clubs will be able to get done this year. : Some local doctors say too many people are paying unrealistic sums for ‘tonics’ and ‘bracers’ when simple good diets will do them much more good, and not as much harm.”
